[Commissions]

Commission – an order for something, especially a work of art, to be produced.

In other words, a commission is a service provided by me in which I produce a work or works of art in exchange for money. I do not accept any other form of payment (i.e. Gaia gold, gift certificates, etc).

[Transaction Information]

I require half the payment up front, covering the paypal fees if you choose to send it through paypal, and the other half after I complete your commission. This is due to the many times I have been cheated out of payment, part of a payment, or done work before any payment then never hearing back from the client.

[Digital Artwork] - When the commission is complete, I will send you a small resolution version for you to approve. If everything is to your liking, I will send you the full version as a .pdf file after you send the final payment.
[Original Works/Traditional]– Like with digital pieces, I will scan and send you progress shots when prompted, or you can check the commissioner’s queue. If you desire the original piece, then you must also pay for shipping and handling fees which vary with each order. I will send out the commission via mail and with an address you provide upon final payment of the product.

[Payment Options]

[Paypal]– Paypal is the preferred payment method. If you decide to send the money via paypal, be sure to include who you are on the payment statement and what you commissioned me for. If the shipping address is different than the one on your Paypal, then you will need to let me know what shipping address you’d rather it be sent to. More importantly, be sure to choose “Service” from the category of purchase dropdown menu, otherwise Paypal will deduct fees for sending the money. Otherwise, you will be responsible for paying to cover the fees.

Send Paypal payments to: frozenlilacs@yahoo.com.

[Check]– I do accept checks sent through the mail system. I am not responsible for your check getting lost in the mail, and to continue the commission you will be responsible for getting the money to me one way or another. After the check has cleared the bank, I will start your commission.

[Cash]– I am not comfortable with accepting cash, unless I know you personally. I have accepted cash in the past though, and will continue to do so. Send it to me with an address I will provide you. It would be a good idea to include some sort of paper in the envelope to hide the money from view. Again, I am not responsible for money that is lost in the mail.

[Other]– If there is a payment method I have overlooked, feel free to email me at frozenlilacs@yahoo.com for questions.

[Usage Rights/Policies]

A commissioned piece is paying for the work and the effort I pour into my art to create something decided by you. That is, I retain the rights to the image(s) I produce for you unless you pay for the rights to the image. By owning the rights, I may use the artwork in my portfolios or sell prints of the work.

[Buying the Rights]– The rights of the image belong to me unless you are willing to buy the rights to the image. To buy the rights means the image is copyright you, and I will be unable to sell prints of it. The cost of buying the rights to an image is AT THE VERY LEAST the doubled amount of what you paid for the commission. The image may be copyrighted to you, but that does not mean you can claim that you created the image.

[Why Commission?]

Several people come to me and ask why my prices are so high, or comment that it is quite a bit to pay for a picture. If you don’t have the money or the desire to commission me, then don’t. I will not give you a discount because you are broke or because your mom won’t let you send money, and more often than not people have no problem paying the prices I provide.

By commissioning me, you are taking me away from my time to do my own artwork and work on school. At the prices set now I don’t even make minimum wage working on art. This will not always be the case, but for now I am content to work on artwork and get paid something for it. Don’t ask me for requests, because I don’t do them. I don’t have time to draw my own artwork most of the time, and I would have no motivation or inspiration to draw anything for free.
